The Library and IT Service Desk was officially launched in February by President of NUI Galway, Dr. James. J. Browne. Located in the recently renovated foyer of the James Hardiman library, the new service desk has the advantage of the extended opening hours provided by the library and a central convenient location for all library and IT queries.

This integrated service is a significant development for the University whereby two support units have come together for the provision of a single service desk for students and staff. The desk handles over 1,000 enquiries per week across a wide range of library and IT related topics. In commending the Library and ISS for integrating their service desks, President of NUI Galway, Dr. James J. Browne, noted the new service  was a good template for collaboration across traditional boundaries. Executive Director of Operations at NUI Galway, Dr. Kieran Loftus welcomed the collaboration between staff and management of ISS and of the Hardiman Library. Also speaking at the launch was Catherine Breslin, Education Officer and Vice-President of the Student's Union of NUI Galway, who noted how, from the student's perspective, a service-orientated move like this integrated service desk will benefit the needs, experiences and time of all students and will be a positive development.
The Library and IT Service Desk is open from 08:30 to 22:00 Monday to Friday and Saturday 09:30 to 13:00 and welcomes your queries.
