Introduction to CAS SciFinder Discovery Platform for Academics To ensure staff and students are best utilising their access to the CAS SciFinder Discovery Platform for Academics, CAS are hosting a series of webinars highlighting the additional content and features from previous versions.   The first of such webinars is an introduction to the new platform suitable for all students and staff across scientific fields focusing on reference and substance searching, creating projects, setting up alerts and using the CAS Lexicon to explore new and potentially interdisciplinary ideas. Fortune Favours the Imirce Project Ahead of St. Patrick's Day 2025

They remain, even while absent, a precious reflection of our own growth and change, a precious reminder of the many strands of identity which compose our story.” Mary Robinson Since its launch in March 2024, the Imirce project in the University of Galway Library has been growing from strength to strength, and picking up supporters left and right. Building on the strong foundation made by the historian Kerby A. Miller, the project is dedicated to preserving, interpreting and sharing the lived experiences of Irish emigrants who travelled west to North America across multiple centuries. As this history and legacy is shared it is natural that the project relies on the generosity, collaboration and trust of multiple stakeholders to ensure its successful continuation and we already have lots to share and give thanks for in the early months of 2025. AM Explorer - database cancellation

  The Library has taken the difficult decision to cancel the current subscription to  AM Explore r.  AM Explorer is the platform interface to Adam Matthews' primary source content of digital archival collections spanning the social sciences and humanities.  This cancellation, based on usage figures. is part of a number that the Library has had to make in order to deal with the current budgetary situation.  In order to minimise any adverse effect, we are notifying users well in advance of the subscription end.   Access to AM Explorer will remain until the  end of August 2025  when the current subscription expires. Treasures of the O’Gorman Special Collection  Blog Series - Volume 3 Literature A literary collection owned by the late entrepreneur, local historian and supporter of the arts, Ronnie O’Gorman, was recently donated to the University of Galway.
