University of Galway Research Repository: Green Open Access publishing

Remember to submit your publications, including peer-reviewed articles, conference papers, reports, books and book chapters to the University of Galway Research Repository. This is known as Green Open Access publishing (or self-archiving), where authors publish in a journal and then deposit the final draft post-refereeing without the publisher's typesetting, formatting, logos and pagination (also known as the post-print) in the repository.

Go to the University of Galway Research Repository and follow the How to submit guidance at the Help dropdown or email your publication to researchrepository@universityofgalway.ie

Be sure to make your book chapters easier to discover by adding them to the repository also. The repository administrator will always contact the publisher for permission to archive book chapters if their open access policy is not visible on their website. All submissions are reviewed by the repository administrator to ensure they meet the publisher’s policies before being made available.

The benefits of Green Open Access publishing include increased exposure and impact with more potential readers than publications restricted to subscribers, and extra discoverability through Google Scholar, Unpaywall and Open Access Button. It also ensures long-term access and preservation, compliance with funders’ requirements and the University of Galway’s Open Access policy. No costs are incurred by the author.

The University Open Access Policy requires that authors of peer-reviewed articles and peer-reviewed conference papers resulting from research carried out at the University of Galway must deposit a copy in the repository.
