Proinsias Mac Aonghusa agus a chuid oibre san Afraic
Tá catalógú á dhéanamh ar bhailiúchán leabhar Mhic Aonghusa agus tá breis agus 1500 leabhar ar fáil anois i gcatalóg na leabharlainne.
Chomh maith le béim láidir ar stair, teanga, litríocht, cultúr agus polaitíocht na hÉireann san fhichiú haois, léiríonn an cnuasach suim agus saothar Mhic Aonghusa maidir le saoirsí sibhialta agus cearta an duine in Éirinn agus i dtíortha ar fud an domhain. Ar cheann de na tíortha atá luaite tá an Namaib san Afraic Thiar Theas.
Ar an 18 Nollaig 1973, ceapadh Seán MacBride mar chéad choimisinéir lánaimseartha sa Namaib ag céim an ard-rúnaí chúnta. D'oibrigh sé chun tacaíocht idirnáisiúnta a bhaint amach do neamhspleáchas na Namaibe go dtí 1977. Dé Luain, an 11 Márta 1974, bhí Mac Aonghusa ag ithe lóin le Seán MacBride i dTeach Roebuck i mBaile Átha Cliath. Is ansin a d'iarr MacBride air glacadh leis an bpost mar ionadaí speisialta agus comhairleoir na NA. Is é an príomhdhualgas a bheadh air ná córas craolacháin a fhorbairt do SWAPO (Eagraíocht Dhaonphobail Iardheisceart na hAfraice), eagraíocht saoirse na Namaibe. Agus é i mbun na hoibre seo, bhí cónaí air in Lusaka sa tSaimbia. (Mac Aonghusa, 1983). Le linn na tréimhse céanna, bhí Mac Aonghusa ina bhall de mhisin taidhleoireachta speisialta san Éigipt, san Ailgéir, i bPoblacht Dhaonlathach an Chongó agus sa Tansáin.
D’fhoilsigh Mac Aonghusa dialann ar a chuid ama san Afraic in Gaillimh: agus aistí eile (1983).

Proinsias Mac Aonghusa and his work in Africa
Cataloguing of the Mac Aonghusa book collection is ongoing with over 1500 books now available on the library catalogue.
As well as a strong focus on twentieth century Irish history, language, literature, culture and politics, the collection illustrates Mac Aonghusa’s interest and work on civil liberties and human rights both in Ireland and in countries around the world. One of the countries which features is Namibia in South West Africa.
On 18 December 1973 Seán MacBride was appointed as the first full-time commissioner of Namibia with the rank of assistant secretary-general. He worked to secure international support for Namibian independence until 1977. On Monday 11 March 1974, Mac Aonghusa was having lunch with Seán Mac Bride in Roebuck House in Dublin. It was there MacBride asked him to accept the position of special representative and adviser of the UN. His main duty would be to develop a broadcasting system for SWAPO (South West Africa People's Organisation) the Namibian liberation organisation. While undertaking this work, he lived in Lusaka in Zambia. (Mac Aonghusa, 1983). During the same period, Mac Aonghusa was a member of special diplomatic missions in Egypt, Algeria, Democratic Republic of Congo and Tanzania.
Mac Aonghusa published a diary of his African experiences in Gaillimh: agus aistí eile (1983).
