Astronomy in the Special Collections
During the month of
October, we will be celebrating a topic which may not be readily associated
with rare books: astronomy. Why not
join the Special Collections team on Wednesday October 1st for a look at the first
(and, some might say 'last') exact map of the moon: Beer and Mädler's Mappa selenographica (Berlin : Simon Schropp & Soc., 1834), in a talk
by Prof. Mike Redfern of the School of Physics, which kicks off the Special Collections
Lunchtime Lectures Series 2014-2015.
You can view a
spotlight exhibition of astronomy in the Special Collections in the
Hardiman Foyer during the month of October.
