Coming soon! The new EBSCOHost Interface - October 2025
The new EBSCOhost user interface will be shortly live for University of Galway Library users, offering a refreshed academic research experience across all EBSCO databases. The planned date for migration is 1st October 2025.
This update will deliver a more intuitive platform for searching, saving, and managing scholarly resources, tailored to students, researchers, and staff across every discipline.
University of Galway Library users will
soon benefit from the latest EBSCOhost UI redesign, which streamlines access to
key databases across Business, Economics, Education, Health Sciences,
Humanities, and more. The upgrade supports both desktop and mobile users and
reflects current best practices for digital resource management in Irish
academic libraries.
Summary of Changes
·
Cleaner Interface: Easier navigation, modern styling, and
improved visibility help users find content quicker and more efficiently.
·
Personal Dashboard: The previous “Folders” setup is
replaced with a dashboard for managing saved items, projects, recent activity,
and searches—ideal for organizing course, research, or teaching materials.
·
Enhanced Search: Improved filters, advanced search
options, and helpful facets allow users to target results more precisely,
supporting systematic reviews and specialized literature searches.
·
Data Migration: Items in custom/shared folders won’t
automatically transfer. Move essential resources to the main folder before
using the new UI; alerts for saved searches/journals need to be set up again.
·
Seamless Resource Export: Enhanced tools are available for
saving and exporting references, including integration with Google Drive,
OneDrive, and citation management platforms.
What do you need to do?
·
Transfer Saved Items: Before the live date on the 1st
October, you will need to move important documents, citations, or notes from
custom/shared folders to your main “My Folder” in EBSCOhost.
·
Recreate Alerts: Make a record of any active
alerts—whether for searches, journals, or publication updates—and set them up
again in the new dashboard.
·
Update Bookmarks: If you experience issues with older
links, update any bookmarks for direct access to individual databases via the
new UI and University of Galway’s A-Z Database list.
·
Get Orientated: Explore the dashboard and try the new
search tools. Refer to updated FAQ’s, quick guides and video tutorials.—including University of Galway-specific training sessions with
EBSCO experts
which will be taking place in October 2025.
·
Contact Library Staff: For any training needs or
troubleshooting, contact the Academic Skills team or the Library and IT Service
Desk. The team is ready to help students
and staff adapt to the new platform.
