Library Research Services Drop-in Clinic 2026

The Library Research Services Drop-in Clinic starts on the 13th January 2026. Library specialists from the Open and Digital Research team will be available throughout the week to advise researchers on key research areas of open research, research skills, data management, and digital research.



If further support is needed, researchers can schedule a 1-1 follow up session with a library specialist. The drop in is suitable for experienced researchers, postdoctoral researchers, and PhD researchers. Session Overviews:

The Research Information Skills drop-in clinic with Rosie Dunne, Research Services Librarian, provides support for Starting your research, Conducting a literature review, Managing your references and Conducting a systematic review, scoping review, rapid review and other types of evidence-based research.

The Digital Publishing and Data Management drop-in clinic with Trish Finnan,
Digital Publishing and Data Management Librarian, provides support for Publishing services: Open access publishing via University of Galway Research Repository, OERs via Open Press at the University of Galway Research, Identifiers (DOIs, ISBNs), and support for Research Data Management: Creating Data Management Plans (DMPs).

The Open Practice drop-in clinic with Dr. Jen Smith, Open Services Librarian, provides support for making the processes and outputs of research as transparent and accessible as possible, thereby improving integrity and promoting excellence. Specific topics include guidance on pre-registration, preprints, ethics, copyright, licensing, community science, and funding proposals.

The Digital Tools & AI for Research drop-in clinic with Oksana Dereza, Digital Library Developer, provides support for researchers who want to incorporate new data methods, digital tools or technologies into their projects by helping them evaluate which options best meet their objectives and directing them to the relevant resources and guidance.

The Research Data Management (RDM) drop-in clinic with Kate Harrigan, Research Data Steward, offers researchers support on various RDM tasks such as data governance, data organisation & documentation, and data publishing. Researchers will receive tailored support and best practices for their research data management needs.
