The new EBSCOhost interface is now up and running. This new interface is the culmination of extensive research with the community and represents a significant enhancement utilising current Web 2 technology to enrich the user experience. The new enhanced interface will provide exciting new tools including additional search options such as Smart Text searching. As a registered user with Cambridge Journals Online (CJO) you may be interested to read about the latest additions we have made to the site. Major new developments in functionality and design provide improved access to the content of Cambridge University Press's collection of over 230 leading academic and practitioner journals. Some key features released in June 2008 include: Social bookmarking Users can now bookmark links from journal homepages and article abstracts using social bookmarking services, such as del.icio.us , Digg.com and Reddit.com enabling them to save web pages they want to remember or share. CJO is also fully enabled for users of the CiteULike service. Widgets CJO has introduced a widget that can be downloaded from the main homepage and used to search the site. A new version of the Library's Book Request Form has been launched today. This allows members of academic staff to submit requests for books to be added to the Library's collection. The new form allows departments to track books already requested and to see the status of their requests. The usernames and passwords remain the same - please contact your Head of Department who has been given these details. Thanks to IReL, the James Hardiman Library is now a member of Portico - a service that provides a permanent archive of scholarly literature published in electronic form. Portico is what is called a dark archive – it archives all e-journals of participating publishers and commits to preserve and maintain this archive for future generations. Portico members are provided with access to these e-journal archives only in particular circumstances, including: the publisher going out of business, the publisher ceasing to publish a title, fatal errors on the publishers own server, or the publisher ceasing to provide access to back issues. Portico is the method that some publishers use to offer permanent access to purchased material after a subscriber cancels their subscription. Through our membership of Portico we are helping to ensure the future accessibility and preservation of knowledge published in e-journals and are securing our users' long-term access to valuable research content.
