NUI Galway’s School of Nursing and Midwifery is running a free public lecture on Ebola: how it spreads, how it affects the human body, and how the outbreak can be contained. The lecture, on  Tuesday, 18 November from 7-9pm in Áras Moyola ,  will also focus on hand washing and its importance in preventing the spread of infections in the community. Dr Diarmuid O’Donovan , senior lecturer in NUI Galway’s School of Medicine and the Director of Public Health for the HSE West, will be delivering the lecture alongside Evelyn Byrne, lecturer from the School of Nursing and Midwifery.  Evelyn Byrne  will explain why hand washing is important, including a demonstration on effective hand washing. During the months of November and December, we will be celebrating ‘the book’ in Special Collections : book history, book production and printing, book use and reception. A spotlight exhibition will run in the Reading Room during November focusing on the production and printing of early printed books, and in particular the errors and imperfections that arose during those processes. A trial of Translated Texts for Historians E-Library is now available.
