Training for researchers – Scopus, Proquest and Research Professional
This semester researchers availed of training provided by
Elsevier, Proquest and Research.Research.com to update their skills. These
training workshops were organised by Rosie Dunne, Research Services Librarian,
as part of our ongoing series of Training for Researchers.
Peter Darroch from Elsevier demonstrated how to give
feedback to ensure your publications are captured in a unique Scopus author id. For more details see
the following pdf link:
It’s also possible to create a dynamic link to times
cited in Scopus from your list of papers. The functionality is called the Scopus Cited-By Count API.
For more information, training, or to request a copy of a
Scopus user guide, email our Research Services Librarian at rosie.dunne@nuigalway.ie
Rebecca Price from Proquest
gave an overview of the new improved search interface showing how to search
across subject groupings (Proquest is particularly strong in Arts, Humanities,
Social Sciences and Aquatic Science) or across Newspaper or Dissertation collections.
If you missed the training, Proquest have a suite of thirteen 2 minute YouTube tutorials
covering all aspects of the new interface. Well worth a look to improve your
skills and find out how to use more advanced feature such as to “Add a widget
for easy access to ProQuest from wherever you need it”
Jade Lenthall from Research.Research.com demonstrated how
to stay up to date with research news and funding opportunities using Research Professional. If you missed
these workshops you might like to book for a web seminar. Here a few of the
