Abbey Theatre Digital Archive, available at a classroom near you! and other new features

1965 Peggy Hayes, Donal McCann & Stephen Rea in 'Church Street'
To enable wider access and improve usability, the Library recently added new features to the Abbey Theatre Digital Archive. These features include:
  1. Lecturer Access
  2. Login with your Campus Account
  3. Video content
  4. RSS feeds
Lecturer Access
'Lecturer Access' allows documents, audio, and video to be accessed and used in a classroom environment. To use 'Lecturer Access' simply:
  • Login to the Abbey Theatre Digital Archive in the Archives and Special Collections Reading Room in the Hardiman Research Building using your usual NUI Galway campus account.
  • Browse the collection of material available, and when you find something that you would like to use in class, simply add it to your "favourites".
  • The final step is to ask a member of staff in the Reading Room to add you to the "Lecturer" user list on the system (you only need to do this once).
You will now be able to access https://abbeytheatre.nuigalway.ie from anywhere on campus, and view all items added to your favourites.
Login with your Campus Account
This feature allows you to login with your usual username and password (your campus account). This replaces a manual process of user registration with a unique, and often forgotten, username and password for the archive.

Video content
New content continues to be added to the system, with the complete collection of videos of performances at the Abbey being online by the end of September 2014.

RSS feeds
Another important enhancement is an RSS feed. This enables you to see what is being published to the digital archive by providing short details of the latest material added. You can subscribe to the RSS feed at https://abbeytheatre.nuigalway.ie:8443/app/WebObjects/Kiosk.woa/wa/rss
